HOW does EMMA BUNTON do it? A decade in pop and she still manages to look fresh-faced and happy at yet another concert. The ex SPICE GIRL belted out her hits (yes, she did have one or two) at Summer XS in Milton Keynes. And Emma is no Baby now. In fact, next to fellow performers McFLY and the Pop Idol duo SAM & MARK, I bet she felt like Granny Spice.

1-Do you miss your days with the Spice Girls? (Roby Hansen, Warrington)
E.B.:Of course. All the girls were great fun, but i´ve grow up now and we all wanted to be solo artists.
Time´s moved on!

2-Do you think the Spice Girls reunion will happen in the near futur? (Rhonda Cooke, London)
E.B.:Hand on heart, i really don´t know. i´m so busy with my solo atuff that i don´t know if i can fit it in.There are rumours every day about us reforming, which is funny because when we were together there were always rumours about us sliptting up.

3-Do you still speak to VB? how would you have coped during this very difficult time for her? (Charlie Madsen, Conventry)
E.B.:I´ve sopken to her and she knows i´ll always be there for her.But i´d never talk about her private life and she´d never talk about mine.

4-Do you think the Spice Girls would have gone on for longer if Geri hadn´t left? (Samantha, Edinburgh)
E.B.:We all decided we´d reached the point where we wanted to go solo, regardless of Geri.

5-what´s your favourite memory from your spice girls days? (Hayley Williamson,London)
E.B.:I have a lots of great memories, ranging from the 1º time we played Madison Square Garden to stting in a hotel room with the girls having a giggle watching a movie.

6-What was the nature of your relation with Justin Timberlake? (Allison Burnett, Glasgow)
E.B.´:I´ve met Justin lots of times and we´re just friends. we went to a party together, had a dance and that´s it.I´m not saying any more.

7-Is it true that you´re back with your ex-boyfriend Jade Jones? (Carla Perterson, Norway)
E.B.:Jade and i have always been fantastic friends. We´re always out together, wich means people tend to jump to conclusions. We get on very well, so i´ll keep everyone guessing!

8-Were the publicity photos for your last album airbrushed? (Nicola Bayle, Glasgow)
E.B.:It´s annying when people say that because i worked incredibly hard to get in shape.i´m one of those girls who puts on weight so easily. It´s ridicolous to say that the images were stretched or airbrushed.

9-Are you friends with all the ex-Spice Girls or is there frictionnbetween some members? (Jo Morris, keswick)
E.B.:There was never any friction-we just went our seperate ways, but we´ll always have this bond.No one will never know what we went trough and it´ll always be special to all of us. Whether it´s by text, a quickly hello or a meeting at a party.

10-Are you planing to write an autobiography?what did you think of the other Spice Girls´ books? (Marjolein, Netherlands)
E.B.:I´m not planing a book - i want to wait until i´m older.I haven´t read any of the other girls´books - i know their stories because i was with them!

11-Name three spicy men you´d like to be stranded with on a desert island. (Gina Kyriacou, Surrey)
E.B.:I fell instantly in love with Orland Bloom after seeing him in Pirates Of The Caribbean.Chandler from Friends would keep me amused on a desert island - and how could i not take George Clooney? He´s such a gentleman and he´d look after me.

12-Do you look back at your Spice Girls image and cringe? (Diane Margaret Mitchell, Inverurie)
E.B.:It was my style at the time and i still love getting dressed up.Mind you,i´d struggle to get into those very high Bufallo boots now.

13-You´ve been single for a long time - is there any reason why? do you want to settle down and get married? (Monique Fallows, Rochester)
E.B.:Have i been single for ages? it´s because og long hours and great girlfriends. Most of my mates are single and up for having fun.Ultimatlely i want to get married and have children, though.

14-Are you pleased to back with your former Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller? (Selina Stevens, London)
E.B.:Absolutely.19 management has always belived in me.I don´t worry about beeing dropped - i´m in partnership with 19, so i have a big say in anything i do.

15-Are you interested in an acting career in films or on TV? (Joanne Morley,Nottingham)
E.B.´:I´d love to do a movie, but i´m still looking for the right script.I´ve been offered roles in the past and they´ve never been right.I´m looking for a part that´ll shock audiences - something really gritty.

16-Do you fancy Prince William? (Mary, London)
E.B.:I suppose, a little bit. He´s a very handsome boy.Whenever i´ve met him he´s been really charming, but he´s just a bit too young for me.

17-You look slimmer than in your Spice Girls days - did you lose weight on any particular diet? (Jennie, Newton Abbot)
E.B.:I´ve always been curvy and i love being this shape.I´ve been eating healthier food recently - more fruit and veg, for example.I´m not fanatical, but i try to be sensible.I still love eating bad foods.

18-Is there anything that you regret about being in the Spice Girls? (Gemma Elliott, Worcester)
E.B.:I don´t regret anything because i always learn from my mistakes. We were very young girls in an international band that had No 1 records. It was an amazing experience for five girls aged from 18 to 23.How can i regret that

19-Who are the most annoying fans you´ve ever encountered? (Damian Furniss, Seaford)
E.B.:I´ve been very lucky - i haven´t had any real weirdos.I´ve had some funny things through the post - some fans have sent photos of themselves wich are a little on the rude side.

20-What´s the funniest story you´ve ever read about yourself? (Barbara Shepherd, Dudley)
E.B.:Again, i´ve been very lucky with the press. They´ve written some strange stories about me buying houses in places i haven´t even heard of.They also link me with men just because we´ve been in the same place together.

21-Do you worry that it could all end tomorrow? (Barbara shepherd, Dudley)
E.B.:I love what i do - the performing, writing and singing. As long as´i´m enjoying it and the fans are still buying my records,i´ll stay in the business.I hope to keep on having fun for a few years yet!

*****PRIZE QUESTION*****

When you´re in a relationship, are you a firm believer in fidelity? (Joshua Simmons, Pontypool)
E.B.:Absolotely, yes.You have to be 100% committed. if you´re in a relationship and care about someone, then there´s no room for cheating. How could you?flirting´s OK if it remains flirting. But you have to draw the line - you should never go off with other people.

‘Crickets’ In The Charts
Congrats to Emma – her latest single, the Latin-inspired ‘Crickets Sing For Anamaria’ has just entered the charts at Number 15, giving her her fourth top twenty single in a row from the highly acclaimed Free Me album. Emma would like to pass on a massive thanks to all of you who went out and got yourselves a copy of the single – thanks for your support!

Diary Entry
Thanks everyone – 8th June 2004
Hi everybody,
Hope you’re all doing good and making the most of this gorgeous weather. I’m loving it!! Just wanted to say (another!) great big thanks to all you guys - ‘Crickets Sing’ has just gone into the charts at Number 15 thanks to you!! It’s always tricky knowing how a track will do when you’ve already released quite a few off the same album so I’m really chuffed to bits to have done so well. Ever since we decided to run with ‘Crickets’ as a single, the feedback from everyone’s been brilliant and the whole project – from filming the video to learning the dance routines to performing it for TV – has been an absolute ball.

I’m going to be taking a few days off in the coming weeks to enjoy the sunshine but I’ll still be doing bits and bobs, including the Olympic Torch concert later this month – can’t wait for that!! Keep checking into the Diary section to see what I’m up to. I think that’s about it for now, but I’ll see you soon.

Lots of love
Emma x

Emma Bunton releases her irresistibly catchy new single Crickets Sing For Anamaria tomorrow.
The Brazilian bossa nova classic is an unusual stand-out track on her album Free Me, but Emma confesses when she first heard it she never thought she could record it. “My manager played it to me and I thought, ‘Are you mad?’ But when we started to put it together in the studio it sounded great.

Excited
“I was really excited yesterday when I heard it on the car radio for the first time. “I have a phone that cuts out the radio when I get a call and, halfway through, my mum rang me. “She said, ‘Have the new curtains turned up yet?’ and I said, ‘Mum, I’m not bothered about the curtains — I’m listening to my song on the radio!’ ” Emma has become noted for her extravagant and glossy videos of late and the new one is no exception, but this time there’s a comedy theme. “We went a bit mad,” she confessed. “I never like to do the obvious. I went to Brazil for the first video, so this time we decided to stay in Britain and use one of those kitsch backdrops like they used to do in ’60s films. “The story is that I’m trying to go on a date, but the whole family comes with me. There were some funny cheesy moments. “We have furry dice, nodding dogs and one of the boys even carries a live chicken!” she laughed. Having scored million-selling success in the past, Emma has the clout to be able to do pretty much what she wants. “I do put my foot down,” she admitted. “I always have loads of ideas for videos and photo shoots and I have a lot of input into everything, but there’s always a budget that has to be stuck to.” Although the new song is the story of a date gone wrong, Emma herself didn’t have any dating nightmares in her youth. “I got into trouble for shouting to boys out of the back bedroom window at home. I’d be talking to them downstairs and my mum would complain, but I was quite well behaved really.”

Beach holidays
Her new single is perfect for the summer and should help get a few barbies buzzing. Emma herself admits she loves beach holidays. “I love a beach — going with a group of girlfriends and sipping cocktails, but to be honest I’m a London girl at heart and you can’t beat London in the summer. “The parks are fantastic and my flat has a great view, plus I can have barbecues there with all my friends — I love it!” Emma’s hoping the sun smiles on her performance at Live + Loud With Health Scotland at Hampden next month. “I might take an umbrella in case it rains, but everyone always has a great time whatever the weather, and the artists are usually covered up, so we’re all right,” she laughed. Emma’s about to tour Europe with her album and has plans for a UK tour but wants to do something special. “I’d love to do a great big show with a ’60s feel and a full orchestra. I want it to be gorgeous, but there’s also the new album to start thinking about, too.” So what about the constant rumours of a Spice Girls reunion? “Everyone’s so busy with their solo lives, we’ve grown in different directions...I haven’t heard anything. “When I hear rumours, like the girl from Black Eyed Peas joining us, I just have a giggle about it. But I’m just like everyone else — I get on the phone and say, ‘Have you heard this?’ “I don’t know anything about a reunion and I guess I’d be one of the first to know,” she grinned. Emma is one of the nicest and most professional stars in the business. Even the crickets would chirp her praises!

June 03, 2004 | Emma adds Spice to festival |
-- [Thanks to Robert for the news]
Former Spice Girl Emma Bunton is to headline a free pop concert in the centre of Caernarfon. Former Rolling Stone Bill Wyman and Liberty X are also confirmed for the BBC Wales Big Buzz event on 25 July, which organisers hope will attract up to 10,000 people. It is among a number of pop events, which it is hoped will provide an economic boost to Gwynedd. "As well as attracting local people we hope it will have an impact from a tourism point of view," said Gwynedd events commissioner Huw Edwin Jones.

Organisers are to speak to local traders in the hope that they will wish to open up on the Sunday to take advantage of the expected crowds. 'Huge success' Mr Jones said: "It's wonderful news that the Big Buzz is coming to Caernarfon - it has been put on south Wales before, so this is a first time it has come to north Wales and with the lovely setting of the castle in the background, we're just crossing our fingers for the weather." Emma Bunton, the former Baby Spice, has unveiled a sexy new image and enjoyed a string of hit singles with her second solo album Free Me.

Former Stones bassist Wyman is bringing his Rhythm Kings band, which includes bluesman Albert Lee and Andy Fairweather Low. Other acts for the event, which will be held at the town's quayside as part of Caernarfon Festival week, include Deepest Blue and Mark Joseph. The concert will also be broadcast on BBC Radio Wales and events producer Paul Forde said: "It has been such a huge success in Cardiff and Swansea over the last two years we thought the rest of Wales should experience the Big Buzz."

Meanwhile. between 9-12 July Will Young, the Beach Boys and Bryan Ferry are among acts playing the North Wales Summer Pops on the Faenol Estate near Bangor in paid-for concerts. Mr Jones said: "The Summer Pops have run in Liverpool and this is an extension of that. "It's great that promoters are looking to try out north Wales audiences for events like this."

Ozzy to light up Olympic concert
Wed 2 June, 2004 14:39

LONDON (Reuters) - The arrival of the Olympic flame in Britain will be marked by a huge free concert in London headlined by Rod Stewart and backed by Ozzy Osbourne and James Brown, tourist body Visit London says. Also in the line-up for the June 26 Olympic Torch Concert in front of 70,000 people will be Ozzy's daughter Kelly, Jamelia, Emma Bunton, Will Young and McFly.

The show will take place from a stage to be built on The Mall, the wide, ceremonial avenue which links Trafalgar Square with Buckingham Palace. The Mall attracted tens of thousands in 2002 when Ozzy Osbourne and other stars performed in the gardens of Buckingham Palace to mark the Queen's 50 years on the throne.

Visit London said people wanting to attend the upcoming six-hour show will have to apply for tickets which will be allocated by public ballot. The Olympic flame, which last visited Britain in 1948 during the London Olympics, started a six-week odyssey on Wednesday, taking in 33 cities in 34 days which for the first time will include all five continents.

In Britain, Sir Roger Bannister, who in 1954 became the first man to break the four minute mile, will start the relay through London. During its trip through the capital, the torch will be carried by mix of celebrities and ordinary people before it is handed to five-times Olympic rowing champion, Sir Steve Redgrave, who will run the final leg into the Mall.
